PARTRIDGE & WILSON RELATIONSHIP BREAKDOWN The breakdown of a relationship, whether a marriage or cohabitation, can bring a whole range of problems to sort out, both in the short and long term. Whether the problems relate to finances, children or domestic violence, the vast majority of cases are resolved through negotiation. We follow the Codes of Practice initially drawn up by the Solicitor's Family Law Association, now adopted by the Law Society's Family Law Panel, in taking a conciliatory approach to resolving family issues. This approach can usually achieve a quick and amicable (and therefore cheaper) agreement. In those few cases where a Court decision is required, we are able to bring experience and expertise to present the case fairly and reasonably. Some of the pain of breakdown can be avoided by discussing whether a prenuptial or cohabitation agreement may be appropriate. Felicity Carnegie and Sonja Williams, both partners of the firm, can conduct all cases involving children and they are assisted by legal executive Rebecca Smith. E-mail Felicity Carnegie |
